Filipinos Overseas support the needs of school children in the Philippines3Towards a longer term impact, Filipinos overseas also supported the educational needs of some students in the public schools in the Philippines. Engr. Oliver Fabros from Qatar and Mr. Wilfredo Aguilar of the Digerati Association in Dubai, UAE, both donated funds for the purchase of school supplies. The said donation was coursed through the Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) Program of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).

AFTA Return to Teach for 2015

The Balikturo Project (Return to Teach) of Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America, Inc. (AFTA) will again kick off this August 2015 in partnership with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas. The project started in 1994 as a professional development program of bringing volunteer Filipino teacher based in the United States to share and exchange with their Philippine counterpart valuable information, knowledge, experience, and latest developments in different areas of teaching.

This year’s Balikturo project focused on four (4) different modules from five (5) professional educators in the field of Mathematics, English Language Arts, Early Childhood, Literacy, and Special Education. Seminar-workshops will be conducted for the teachers, administrators, and students at the Philippine Normal University and the Centro Escolar University this August 2015.
