Students in Ifugao Receive Books from Overseas Donor

The Umalbong Elementary School (UES) in Hingyon, Ifugao and Awayan Elementary School (AES) in Aguinaldo, Ifugao received books from the Feed the Hungry, Inc. (FtH), an organization of Filipino-Americans in United States of America, through the Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) Program of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.

The delivery of these books from Manila and its distribution to the above-mentioned public schools in Ifugao was facilitated by the Empowering the Young to Read (ETYTR). The ETYTR is an informal group with 15 volunteer-members and a personal cause by Ms. Ermelinda K. Bahatan that facilitates requests from public elementary schools that needs reading materials and school supplies by connecting with potential donors from local and overseas.

According to ETYTR, the selection of school beneficiaries is done in coordination with the Office of the Department of Education-Ifugao Division. Around 380 elementary students benefited from this book donation.
